Awesome in Austin: Meet the Management Team

Who would have thought that a volunteer firefighter from Wichita Falls, Texas and an anthropologist from Austin would have formed one of the fastest growing skilled trades firms in Central Texas? Certainly, our competitors didn’t see it coming. Since its humble beginning of just two full-time employees in 2013, Low Voltage Solutions’ Austin/San Antonio branch has grown by leaps and bounds. And we’re just getting started.

None of this branch’s success would be possible without the expertise of the best management team in Central Texas: Richard, LVS Austin Branch Manager, and Mike, our Project Manager. This awesome duo has led their team through several major projects over the years, such as the 35-story JW Marriott hotel, the 38-story Fairmont Austin Hotel, and the 517,000 square foot Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas.

To Richard and Mike, being a part of Low Voltage Solutions means being a part of something greater than yourself. Only at LVS could they find themselves integral to the development and success of an entire company, something they both admit is an exciting and challenging prospect. The communicative environment of the company encourages opinions from all levels within the organization and the management team aims to learn something new from each teammate’s experience. At Low Voltage Solutions, everyone is personally involved and responsible for the company’s success.

The Austin/San Antonio branch keeps Richard very busy. He’s been responsible for the branch’s financial success and the hiring of our current (and growing!) staff of twenty+ professional installers. The short description of his job: to ensure that projects keep coming and the team is developed appropriately in order to manage growth. On any given day he can be found on a phone call lining up future work with clients, interviewing potential candidates for the team, learning new technical concepts from his highly experienced staff, planning projects, coordinating contracts, and performing job estimates.

Richard is proud to be part of the Low Voltage Solutions family. “The whole company began just five short years ago,” he says, “For all the growth and success we’ve seen in that time, we must be doing something right!”

His right-hand-man, Mike, was a thirteen year licensed journeyman electrician in the controls industry before joining Low Voltage Solutions. As the Project Manager, Mike walks through at least one job every day, though some days he inspects three or four, talking to our lead installers and customers and to ensure that they have adequate support to meet deadlines. For him, the best part of being a part of Low Voltage Solutions is the employee-friendly work environment and “being part of a team, instead of just a number.”

Both Richard and Mike enjoy their time outside of work adventuring in the great outdoors and spending quality time with their families. On weekend afternoons, Mike can be found fishing with his wife and kids, while Richard is busy cooking or honing his skills in disc golf.

Richard and Mike are quick to point out that none of the incredible achievements of the Austin/San Antonio branch could be accomplished without the hard work of every single employee. They have no doubt that their efforts as a team will help our highly-skilled, dedicated, and fun-loving company gain recognition as the most outstanding low voltage installer in the region.
